Continued from Part 3 . . .
It is advised to become relatively comfortable with a meditation practice such as the one outlined above, prior to beginning to practice meditation using crystals and gemstones. Once one can meditate comfortably for at least a short length of time (5 minutes or so), and achieve even a minimal level of stillness of body and mind, then one can try to incorporate crystals and gemstones into their daily practice when they so desire.
The reason it is recommended to establish one’s meditation practice first, without crystals or gemstones, is to properly establish a conscious familiarity with the condition, and quality of one’s personal energy, before adding an outside variable that will alter the state of your energy. To put it simply, one needs to be able to see clearly what the quality of their energy is both before and after adding crystals and gemstones to the equation.
Being familiar with oneself on an intimate level through meditation, it will become easier to see the effect that crystals and gemstones have on one’s body, mind and spirit. By having cultivated life sensitivity, it will become clear on the effects of the crystals, how to use them best, and in which quantity and length of time they should be used for greatest balance. One that is not sensitive to their own energies, nor the subtle state of their reality, will find it hard to know if anything is changed by adding or taking away a crystal or two during meditation and energy practices. Without this sensitivity, Crystal Alchemy can be challenging.
When one has practiced meditation for long enough that it becomes comfortable and natural, and you can see some changes and refinement of your consciousness and energy before and after the practice, then it’s time to begin experimenting with the incorporation of crystals and gemstones. At this point, you know by heart all the details of the physical form that need to be maintained during the practice, and you no longer need to think about them. Having achieved this minimal level of life sensitivity, means one will clearly be able to honestly sense alterations in your body chemistry and consciousness, with the addition of crystals and gemstones.
Points to Consider:
Using accessories and jewelry made from crystals and gemstones can have some awesome advantages. The fact that they can be worn on your wrists, neck, ankles etc., means their range of use can be greatly expanded far beyond just the time spent in meditation with them. They also can usually be taken into the shower or bath with you, giving them a nice energetic cleanse, which also means less extra maintenance time spent on them each day.
The practice of using your crystal and gemstone accessories and jewelry during meditation, basically follows the same outline given above for meditating with raw crystals and tumbled gemstones. The main difference is now you will wear them on your body prior to the mediation, and may need to sometimes direct your attention to the place on the body where you are wearing them.
For purposes of seated meditation, maybe one of the best crystal and gemstone accessories to use are those in the form of a beaded bracelet or beaded necklace. These can easily be taken off, and rotated around the hand, bead by bead like prayer beads, which can give an added effect energetically, or give an extra layer of concentration for those who are having difficulties settling their energies.
