Historical and Traditional: 

* In 1714, Peter the Great founded a copper-smelting industry. There is a legend how one employee, suffering from a serious disease, discovered in Revboloty, where ore was sourced for the industry, a spring of water which regained his full health in three days. These rumors came to the ears of Czar Peter, who gave the order to carry out investigations. Water that sprang from shungite deposits proved to be a powerful instrument for healing from anemia, hydropsy, liver disease and many other diseases. Ordinary people began to be treated in all sorts of diseases. Relief was found usually during 2 to 3 weeks of treatment.

Peter, whose health was not strong, tried the water and gave the order to build a spa close to the source. It became the first medical institution in Russia's history called “Martsialniye Vody "- in honor of the god of war particularly since Peter’s sick and wounded soldiers got effective treatment there. A variety of diseases were treated there but mainly hypochondria, bile tract disease, gastrointestinal dysfunction, vomiting, constipation, kidney stones (with sand or small stones), epilepsy, and water was also used to drive out intestinal worms. Peter the Great told all his soldiers to carry a piece of shungite (also known at that time as aspidian stone) in their backpacks. By placing a shungite piece in water-filled vessels soldiers got fresh and clean water. There are many historical records which indicate that the Emperor has issued a special order (ukazs) with such prescriptions. Historical sources also tell us about the battle of Poltaava in the hot summer of 1709 when the Russians, who drank their shungite water, were victorious, but the Swedish army suffered from an epidemic of dysentery, including the king himself. Safety and Care Information:

* Be aware that Shungite can leave black residue on things from time to time if it has not been used much yet

* Remember it is strongly advisable that if making Shungite water with your stones, either change, cleanse and recharge your stones about once a month to maintain the water purification properties of the stones.

* Although it is safe to wear Shungite daily, don’t overdo the consumption of Shungite water and have a break from time to time. One glass a day is enough on average unless treating a more complicated medical condition.

Additional Notes:

* The slow processes of petrification and the environmental conditions have created its magic natural ingredient called fullerenes. Fullerenes are hollow crystalline formations of carbon molecules. Shungite is the only known natural of C60 and C70 fullerenes.

* There are two main types of shungite you can find on the market: Elite (noble) and regular Shungite. The main difference between them is the amount of organic carbon the stones contain. Elite Shungite contains over 90% of pure carbon and it is said to have much more powerful healing energy. It has a silvery metallic appearance and is lighter than regular Shungite.

* Because Elite Shungite has such a high percentage of carbon, it makes it extremely fragile. Therefore, it is usually found in its natural shape and not as often carved into beads or other shapes like regular Shungite is.

* Regular Shungite which is usually identified by its black color, contains 30-50% carbon comparatively.

* Please note that the majority of health benefits noted about Shungite comes from consuming Shungite water. The stone itself also has healing, protective, anti-emf and grounding properties as well though that are found through just wearing the stone and not consuming it.

* Shungite should be cleansed in direct sunlight every couple of weeks to clear it of any buildups and keep its water cleansing potency strong. Also soak it in a liter of water for several hours with a few drops of lemon or lime essential oil to release and cleanse its toxic buildup. The stones should be replaced for fresh ones

* To make Shungite water, soak 150 to 200 grams of regular Shungite or 50 to 70 grams of elite Shungite per one liter of water and let it soak for 24 to 48 hours

* Depending on the time that you spend filtering your water with Shungite stones, you will have either acidic water with 5,5 pH level (at the first stage of filtration) or alkaline water with 7,5 pH level (after a longer time of filtration).
